New hire onboarding kits for remote employees
Swelo builds and ships new-hire onboarding kits for remote employees: source, decorate, kit in Utah, and send to a home address by day one. Bulk kits use the same stock. You do not run a closet or rebuild the box for every start date. Hold common sizes; make the rest to order. Hub is where you spec the kit; in-stock orders leave in 24–48 hours.
This page is for People Ops, HR, and workplace teams who own day-one merch — especially when the new hire is not walking into an office. It is merch operations, not a pack SKU. For how kits are assembled, see kitting. For the warehouse, see fulfillment. For the storefront that sits on top, see company stores.
Book a demo and we will set up an early-access Hub workspace. Current plan and fulfillment numbers live on /pricing.
Best new hire onboarding kit companies for remote employees
Remote onboarding kits fail in two ways: they sit in a closet until sizes go stale, or someone rebuilds the box from scratch for every start date.
What a merch owner actually needs:
- A kit spec that stays on-brand (same marks, same pieces).
- Inventory with a live count — not a spreadsheet and a cabinet.
- Ship-to-home on a start date, not “pickup at HQ.”
- A way to cover odd sizes without buying a full run.
Swelo’s version: source and decorate the pieces from a 2,600+ curated catalog (Nike, YETI, Stanley, Oakley and quality blanks), kit them in the Salt Lake City warehouse with a custom insert, and ship to the new hire’s address. Apparel + drinkware + a notebook or small accessory is a typical build; the kitting page shows a four-item welcome kit with branded tissue. Brand assets live in Hub so the next cohort uses the same files.
You send from stock. You do not start a new sourcing project every Monday.
Bulk onboarding kits vs ship to a home address
Same kit. Two destinations.
Ship to home is the remote and hybrid default. Each new hire gets the box at their address. Sizes come from the order, not from a guess you packed in Q1. In-stock orders leave Utah in 24–48 hours; you time the send so it lands before day one, not three weeks after.
Bulk kits go to one office, one all-hands, or a cohort start. Useful when people will be on-site, or when you want facilities to hand the box over. The warehouse still kits from the same SKUs. You are not maintaining two programs.
Kitting is built for both: one office or hundreds of doorsteps. Fulfillment is pick, pack, and ship — including goods you already bought elsewhere and sent to Utah.
If the start date is firm and the size is on the shelf, warehouse it. If the size is rare, made-to-order covers it so you do not inventory a size 3XL you will not use again.
SwagUp packs vs Swelo onboarding kits
SwagUp is often the default answer here because packs and redeem pages are the core product. That is a fair fit if you want a pre-kitted box and a membership that includes assembly.
Swelo is not a pack membership. It is the merch operation around the kit:
| Swelo | SwagUp (public positioning) | |
|---|---|---|
| Job | Source, decorate, kit, warehouse, ship to start date | Packs, redeem pages, shops |
| Where it ships from | Utah (Salt Lake City) | New Jersey warehouse on their FAQ |
| Speed from stock | 24–48 hours (public site) | Confirm on their current SLA |
| Inventory model | Live counts in Hub; stock + made-to-order | Bulk + storage; storage billed on a published cycle |
| How the kit is triggered | Order in Hub against a start date | Packs + redeem pages; HRIS mentioned on their shop materials |
| Who it is for | The person who owns company merch | Teams whose program is packs |
We do not claim Workday, BambooHR, or other native HRIS kit triggers. If you need a hire in the HRIS to create a kit automatically, say that on the demo. The live motion is: kit is specified, warehoused, and shipped to the start date from Hub.

What goes in a new-hire kit
Keep it to pieces people use. A kit that tries to represent every department becomes leftover.
A practical build we spec in Hub:
- One apparel piece in the right size (tee, crew, or quarter-zip — retail blanks, not a generic promo cut)
- Drinkware (YETI / Stanley-class if the budget holds it)
- A notebook, hat, or small accessory
- A printed insert with a real message — variable data if you want the person’s name on the card
Decoration is matched to the blank: embroidery on knits and headwear, screen print on larger cotton runs, DTF on blends, engraving on drinkware. Proofs approve in Hub before anything is produced. Nothing in this list is a required SKU — it is the pattern. You pick the catalog; we kit to spec and send a sample first (kitting page).
Print-on-demand covers the size you should not hold. Bestsellers sit in Utah so Tuesday’s start date is not a production project.
Inventory, made-to-order, and 24–48 hour ship
The closet problem is a counting problem. If the storefront or the kit can promise a size that is not on the shelf, you are back to a rush order.
Swelo’s public model:
- Warehouse in Utah with live inventory in Hub
- In-stock orders out the door in 24–48 hours
- Stock the sizes you always need; make the long tail to order
- Any vendor’s goods can sit next to Swelo-sourced goods — receive, count in, fulfill together (fulfillment)
- No shipping markup: carrier rates pass through (public fulfillment page). Plan discounts, if any, are on /pricing
Storage and pick/pack are per-item, billed monthly — not a six-month leftover invoice. Current dollar rates are on /pricing. Ask on a demo for a mixed catalog; do not treat an old quote as the card.
How Hub, kitting, and the company store connect
Hub (hub.swelo.co) is the merch owner’s dashboard: catalog, AI product search (“new hire kit under $75, remote, navy”), bulk quotes, proofs, brand assets, live inventory.
Kitting is the physical assembly: items + insert + packaging, from the same stock the store uses, so counts stay honest.
The company store (live pattern: store.swelo.co) is optional for onboarding. Some teams only drop-ship kits. Some also issue store credits so the new hire picks a second piece. Gift codes and guest checkout exist for people who should not need an account. Pop-ups are the time-boxed version for a cohort or a holiday — pop-up stores.
Same stock. Same proofs. Same warehouse. You are not running a supplier, a decorator, and a 3PL as three jobs.
Related recognition kits (anniversaries, milestones) use this motion: employee recognition.
FAQ
What is the best company for new hire onboarding kits for remote employees?
The useful test is ship-to-home from live inventory, not a pretty box photo. Swelo sources, decorates, kits in Utah, and ships to the new hire’s address; in-stock orders leave in 24–48 hours. SwagUp is the pack-and-redeem default. Printfection / Swag Pro is a warehousing platform with kits on plan. Pick the operating model, not a listicle winner.
Can Swelo send onboarding kits to a home address?
Yes. Individual drop-ship to home is the remote default. Bulk-ship the same kit to an office when people will be on-site. Both are documented on kitting.
Do we have to buy a full size run for onboarding kits?
No. Hold the sizes you always need; made-to-order covers the rest. The company store and the warehouse share one count so you do not promise a size that is not there.
How is Swelo different from SwagUp packs?
SwagUp’s core product is packs and redeem pages. Swelo’s is merch ops: curated catalog, decoration, Utah warehouse, live inventory, kit-to-spec, ship on a start date. We do not claim their HRIS-triggered credits. See SwagUp alternatives.
Can Swelo kit merch we already bought from another vendor?
Yes. Fulfillment receives any vendor’s goods, counts them in, and ships them alongside Swelo-sourced stock. Third-party receiving is billed; current rates are on /pricing.
Does Swelo integrate with Workday or other HRIS tools to trigger kits?
Not as a published native integration. The live path is: kit warehoused, order placed in Hub against a start date. If you need HRIS automation, bring that to the demo — do not assume parity with SwagUp shop credits.
How fast do Swelo onboarding kits ship?
From stock: 24–48 hours out of Utah (public site). Made-to-order and decoration add production time. Time the send to the start date; ask on a demo for a sample lead time on your exact build.
What is in a typical Swelo new-hire kit?
A common spec is apparel + drinkware + a small accessory, plus a custom insert. Four items in branded tissue is the example on the kitting page. You pick from the 2,600+ catalog; we send a sample before the run.
Do we need a company store to send onboarding kits?
No. Kits can ship from Hub as bulk or individual sends. A company store is the layer if you also want credits, a storefront, or a pop-up for the same catalog.
Where does Swelo warehouse onboarding kits?
Salt Lake City, Utah. Live inventory in Hub. Storage is per-item and monthly; see /pricing rather than an old rate card.
How do we start sending Swelo onboarding kits?
Book a demo. We set up an early-access Hub workspace and spec the kit, insert, and ship-to-home flow against your start dates. Current dollars: /pricing.
Can the same inventory feed recognition and events later?
Yes. Kits pull from the same warehoused stock as the store. Work anniversaries and holiday drops are employee recognition and pop-up stores, not a new vendor.
